App-owned content

Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by the app owner to explain how Ledger handles personal data. It is not a certification or legal opinion.

Who we are

Ledger App Learning is owned and operated by Rodney Lindsay, a sole proprietor trading as Ledger App Learning (ledgerapplearning.com). For the personal data described on this page, Rodney Lindsay is the data controller — we decide what data is collected and why. You can reach us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

What we collect

  • Account data: email address and authentication information managed by our auth provider.
  • Profile data: display name, handle, and optional settings you choose to provide.
  • Learning data: lesson progress, quiz responses, and review schedules to power adaptive learning.
  • Portfolio data: simulated paper trades, manual holdings entries, and watchlist symbols.
  • Community data: opt-in public profile fields, follows, comments, and badge progress.
  • Subscription data: your plan, status, renewal dates, and the customer and subscription references returned to us by our payment processor. We never see or store your card details.
  • Email engagement data: whether our emails to you were opened or clicked, and your email preferences.
  • Technical data: browser type, device information, and error logs to keep the app running.

How we use your data

We use your data to provide the learning experience, calculate progress and streaks, manage your subscription and entitlements, send optional reminders you opt into, and improve app reliability. We do not sell personal data.

Legal basis for processing

Where data protection law such as the UK/EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: creating and running your account, delivering lessons and portfolio features, and providing and billing the Premium subscription.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing fraud and abuse, understanding aggregate product usage, and improving the app.
  • Consent: optional cookies and analytics, push notifications, review reminders, and non-essential email such as win-back messages. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: retaining transaction and tax records, and responding to lawful requests.

Cookies and analytics

We use Cookiebot to manage consent and optional analytics cookies. You can review our Cookie Policy for details on categories and how to change your choices.

Payments and Merchant of Record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

When you subscribe to Premium, Paddle.com Market Limited acts as the seller of record and processes your payment. Paddle collects and processes your billing information — including your name, billing address, country, card or payment method details, and tax identifiers — as an independent data controller for the purposes of taking payment, calculating and remitting sales tax and VAT, issuing invoices, and preventing fraud. Card numbers are entered directly into Paddle's checkout and are never transmitted to or stored by us.

Paddle shares limited information back with us — your email address, subscription status, plan, renewal dates, and customer and subscription identifiers — so we can grant and manage your Premium access. Paddle's handling of your data is governed by the Paddle Privacy Notice and the Paddle Buyer Terms.

Data sharing

We share personal data with the following categories of recipient:

  • Merchant of Record: Paddle, for the sale of Premium, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
  • Service providers and subprocessors: hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, and push notification providers who process data on our behalf under their own security and contractual terms.
  • Analytics and consent tooling: Cookiebot and any optional analytics you consent to.
  • Professional advisers: legal and accounting advisers where necessary.
  • Authorities: where we are required to disclose by law.

Public profile content is only visible if you explicitly opt in. Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we and our providers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account and associated data from your settings at any time; deletion requests are processed within a reasonable timeframe.

Your rights and choices

  • Update or delete your profile from account settings.
  • Opt in or out of community features and public profiles.
  • Manage notification and email preferences, including review reminders and win-back emails.
  • Adjust cookie consent through the Cookiebot banner or your browser settings.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. For billing data held by Paddle as Merchant of Record, contact Paddle directly at paddle.net.

Security

We use row-level access controls, encrypted connections, and authenticated server functions to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong password.
